So here I am... having a cold again (everybody together:"Again?!?!?!")... stuffy red nose, coughing and sniffling sounds, red eyes nasal voice. Truly, a thing of beauty and grace.
Some people sleep off their illnesses, some people sweat it off, everyone has their own way of dealing with a cold (heck some people go to work) - it shouldn't surprise you though that my way of dealing with a cold, apart from taking *really* hot showers, is to eat a *lot* of food.
In normal, healthy days, I have a general rule of not eating past roughly around 9h30 - I don't like to fall asleep feeling stuffy, it's not good for the body, it gets you fat plus it affects my dreams (if I go to bed slightly hungry, I get to have happy, eating dreams...). However, when I get sick or down, I start having random cravings. It usually starts with the comfort food which, for me, is a fried egg on rice, drizzle of soy sauce and a side bowl of hot clear instant seaweed soup. After that, it spirals out of control. Usually, next in line would be congee, but it could be a glass of milk, hot tea with lemon and honey, baby bok choys, taiwanese minced pork on rice, some simili-crab sticks, bread and butter, sweet dessert buns, a hot dog, japanese salmon rice balls, green tea, those korean yogourt drinks, some pomelo, orange juice and chicken nuggets.
And yes, apart from the chicken nuggets (which is my current craving) I've just had all the above mentioned food in the span of, well, since I got home from work I haven't really stopped eating. My greasy fingers help me stuff my mouth so it'll only be busily filled with happy tastes instead of coughing and collecting phlegm... plus it keeps feeding my body the nutrients necessary to fight off the germs. Everything is logical and in perfect balance. I am so zen.
lawl.
ReplyDeleteGood stuff. Surprised you are a fan of those korean yogurt drink things.
I grew up on them and haven't found a non-korean who doesn't think they are gross.
